Chapter ISignals of invalidation

  • "You're too sensitive."
  • "Relax, it's not that deep."
  • "You always overreact."
  • mockery when you share pain
  • changing the subject when you talk about feelings

Message: your inner world doesn't matter.

Chapter IIWhat healthy looks like

Healthy love says:

  • "I hear you."
  • "That makes sense."
  • "Tell me more."
  • "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."

Chapter IIIWhy invalidation is dangerous

It trains you to:

  • suppress truth
  • doubt your emotions
  • accept disrespect to avoid conflict

Chapter IVWhat to do

Clean line:

  • "I'm open to feedback. I'm not open to mockery."

Boundary:

  • "If you invalidate me again, I will pause this conversation."

Then follow through. Boundaries without follow-through are negotiations.
